NTA has many plans to make the test easier and more student friendly.

1. Hybrid Exam Mode

For the first time:

  • Mathematics, Science, Technical Subjects — CBT Mode
  • Humanities & Regional Languages — Pen & Paper Mode

This decision ensures fairness and reduces technical issues.

2. Reduced Number of Domain Subjects

Instead of letting 10 subjects like before CUET UG 2026 will select for you:

  • Maximum 6 Domain Subjects
  • 1 Language
  • 1 General Test

This makes the exam simpler and reduces student confusion.

3. More Application-Friendly Question Format

  • MCQs will remain
  • More competency-based questions
  • Additional reading comprehension in languages
  • Reduced negative marking probability (under discussion)

4. Normalization May Be Removed

Normalization issues caused problems. NTA may move to:

  • Single-day exam for each subject
  • Or same difficulty level across slots

Normalization changes are highly expected.
